Mark qualified as a chartered accountant with Thomson McLintock in London. Following experience in industry he returned to KPMG dealing first with small businesses and latterly specialising in VAT. Mark set up his own practice in Wimbledon in 1995. In 2009 he transferred his business to Henley having acquired a local practice and set up Buffery & Co Limited.
Mark is a tax specialist, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the VAT Practitioners Group. He sits as a member on the First Tier Tax Tribunals, the body which hears appeals by taxpayers against decisions made by HMRC.
Mark is married to Karen and they have two grown up children. In his spare time Mark plays tennis to a good standard, is permanently working on his golf game and enjoys skiing with the family.
Sam graduated in Accounting and Finance from Brighton University and joined the firm to train for his professional qualifications. Sam is a big sports fan – football in particular and is to be found either playing or watching at the weekend.
Karen is responsible for the Company’s HR function and accounts. In her spare time Karen has recently taken up tennis after a 10-year break and is also by necessity discovering that gardening isn’t as dull as she’d imagined.
Katie joined the company in late August 2017 having moved from a career in fashion having made the decision to train for her professional qualifications with the ICAEW. In her spare time, Katie enjoys reading, writing and walking the family dog. She has recently taken up pottery.
James is our newest staff member joining in October 2018. Following the completion of his A’Levels James chose to turn down a university place to study physics and instead has decided to train for his professional qualifications with the firm. His hobbies include playing guitar, watching Netflix and spending time with his family.
Beth graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Mathematics and joins us to train for her professional qualifications. In her spare time, Beth enjoys yoga, musicals and baking, and has recently started glass fusion..
